Photo Contest Information

Winning entries may be used by the Japanese Society of Microscopy for non-commercial purposes.
Eligible photos
We are looking for microscopy photos that can be considered academically or technically advanced, artistic, or unique. Photos taken using any form of microscopy (even combined techniques) are eligible. However, winning photos from prior photography competitions, other academic societies, and photos that have been published in academic journals are ineligible.

Registrants of the 81st Annual Meeting (members and non-members).
Application period for the photo contest
December 16 (Monday), 2024 ~ February 10 (Monday), 2025 February 20 (Thursday), 2025
Presentation format
Photos will be published in the abstract book. They will also be enlarged and displayed at the venue during the exhibition.
Best Photo Award
Participants will vote for the best photos based on their quality, academic and technical value, artistic quality, etc. The names of the winners will be posted on our webpage.
Please state the photo title, its creator(s), the name(s) of their organization, the photographed subject, and the conditions under which it was taken. Please also include a description stating its academic, technical, or artistic value. Any photos without the above information will be excluded.
The maximum image size that can be sent is 600 (length) x 500 pixels (width). Please submit your photo in the same format as that to be displayed at the conference. If the submitted photo is different from that in the abstract book, your award may be revoked.
Please make sure that the photo title, the name of the author, and their organization match those listed in the online application. Color figures and photographs are acceptable. If you are submitting more than one photo, please repeat the above for each.
Character limits, etc.

- The title should be within 40 characters in Japanese or 80 characters in English.

- Photo description:
- Up to 200 characters (Japanese) or 400 characters (English). The description of the photographed subject and conditions should be about 50 words in Japanese or about 100 words in English.
